If you haven't been staying up on your daily Scriptures it has been a very interesting week for Israel. Sunday's Gospel spoke of Christ's difficulty in converting the Jews in his native place. While through the week we have read from Hosea and Matthew concerning the failures of Israel juxtaposed against the power of Christ to heal and forgive.

What makes this all a bit chilling is the recent headlines in Israel concerning their invasion of Lebanon and war against Hezbollah. I cannot say exactly what the lesson or connection is. But it is still chilling to see Israel under fire in both the daily readings and news.

From Katherine...

"Gday mates!

How are you? I hope you are all doing well!

Today was so great! I woke up in a huge bed overlooking the Pacific Ocean in a beautiful apartment with my own giant bathroom and jacuzzi! WOW! I feel like a rich woman! But, it was my little taste of being rich for one night, then back to reality.

Today we got a chance to go to an Australian school and eat lunch with the kids. It was so awesome ! They are so cute in their little uniforms!

Then tonight we went crocodile hunting! Oh my goodness, how scary. We all had flashlights and had to learn how to spot their eyes. We spotted about 20 which is pretty good. Then we went back to the farmhouse to eat dinner, where I had crocodile chowder. It was actually pretty tasty! Just like chicken! Then I got to hold a baby croc! It was so great!

I can't wait to share my pictures with all of you. As soon as I get to a computer with a jump drive, I will upload them! They are great!

Tomorrow we are going to see some caves, and then it is on to another crocodile resort. Soon we will be going through a rainforest and staying on a farm in the outback. It is all so exciting!

Australia is amazing! I look through my digital camera each day and can hardly believe all that I have done in the past 2 weeks. I will be home a week from today! hooray! It will be sad to leave, but I am happy to be going home too. Taking care of 36 teenagers for 24 hours a day is quite tiring! But I do love it!

Take care! I miss you all mates!

Love Kat"

From Seth...

Drew Sharp is attacking Joe Dumars again for losing Ben Wallace. Your analysis was a whole lot better.

I have a theory, though, that could blow you, Drew, and the world of Joe-D hatas right outta the water. Perhaps Dumars is tossing in the 2006-07 season already. Well, not tossing in, but certainly allowing us to compete with less than a full complement. This means that next year, we go into a deep draft with two First Round picks, one of which most likely a lottery pick, and $25 million (some of which we'll need to re-sign Chauncey) under the luxury tax to spend on the best class of free agents in a decade. Certainly, LeBron re-signed and D-Wade won't leave Miami, but we'll have a ton left over for a bunch of big names.

There's no doubt in my mind that the "Go to Work" Pistons have been laid off (Michigan economy jokes?), but I think the team, with two impact rookies and a star infusion, can compete with the elite again by '07-'08, and that still gives us a few good year of prime Sheed before he begins to age.

I agree. Though I don't want to be included in the hata community with Sharp, I certainly call Joe out for his mistakes. It would be stupid to fire him because I think he will certainly learn from these mistakes and become that much better. But like a hand of poker sometimes you simply fold the wrong stinkin' cards. And as much as I love the Pistons year in, year out, a general manager has to be more responsible than the "win now and always" fans.

But you're right about going into 2008. The Pistons should be able to find a very solid bigman in the draft. As for the free agent market, that is more unclear. There were supposed to be a lot of great players hitting the market. However, we find many of them signing contract extensions this summer. I'm sure there will be some nice compliments, but it's difficult to tell who will be the Al Harrington and Ben Wallace franchise players of next summer. I think much of that will depend on which teams poop the bed this year and don't meet expectations (think 2005 Supersonics and Rockets). But if the Pistons could find a solid bigman to bang the 4-5 spot that would create the perfect compliment to the backcourt and leave Tayshaun and Rasheed to do their thing on the wings. As a "win now and always" fan, it will be interesting to see how the Pistons change statistically to compensate for the loss of Big Ben in 2007. Could Tayshaun become the next Defensive MVP? Will Rasheed take his game to another level and become a 20/10 guy? Maybe McDyess or Muhammad will suddenly emerge as all-stars with the increased playing time and contribute to a more balanced Pistons that could outplay the 2006 team putting them only in need of a few complimentary players they could acquire at the draft deadline.

But anyways, as for Rasheed, I think he has quite a few years left in the tank. Most guys of his size and skill tend to play into their late 30s (Cliff Robinson, Sam Perkins, Kar' Malo'). The fact that he doesn't go low and bang with the big boys as often as he should will probably prolong his career. Though I doubt he will become a 20/10 guy, I could see him averaging 10-15 ppg another 8 years.

Why go after Bush for his real failures like expanding government and open boarders when there are plenty of faux liberal concerns. Right Seth...

"The last piece of the Valerie Plame incident is public knowledge, at least in the Canadian press:

What we've learned:

-Bob Novak hasn't a shred of journalistic ethics

-President Bush will outright lie to save face

-Karl Rove broke the law to strike at a critic

-The only people punished were those who did the right thing

Worst administration ever? Doubtful, but based on my corruption/incompetence index, these creeps are certainly in the running. Either way, unless one of the crooks from this team wins in '08, when Jan. 20, 2009 comes around, I'll be dancing in the snow."

I didn't think Seth was a big fan of Hillary either?

Well if you're interested in getting the information from the primary source of Novak instead of 2nd rate Canadians, you can find it here in his latest column. Money Quote...

"I learned Valerie Plame's name from Joe Wilson's entry in Who's Who in America."

Better indict Who's Who in America as well Seth. Looks like this conspiracy runs from the White house to the publishing house.

This sounds like a Fox special: "When Clowns Attack." But it turns out to be a bunch of Juggalos rejecting Psychopathic's message of love for your homies and Faygo. Oh Tres, why couldn't you keep your clown hair-folk under control...

"For several nights last month, a group of thugs with black hooded sweat shirts pulled tight over their heads, including at least one in "angry" clown makeup, terrorized visitors to Pierce County's Fort Steilacoom Park, police say.

The group cried "woo, woo, Juggalo" as they assaulted park visitors with a machete and fists. They stole cellphones, cash and wallets and even threatened to cut their victims' heads off, according to court documents."

I wish I lived in L.A. just so I can see Frank jump up and down and scream "Woo, Woo, Juggalo!"

Some of the kids we're asking about Wilford Brimley and the Beetis Remix. I guess this one is the original. However, the one I linked to previously was the superior "Remix Vol. 2" I especially like the way he pounds out that Beetis-Beat on the supplies before singing the keyboard solo with his mustache.

This would be more appropriate if dragons were emerging from their "down-theres" and devouring a crane and a magpie. But I guess this will have to please Kim Jong Il for now. Posted by Picasa

Seth found this li'l Gem in The Onion about some terrorists getting an unexpected surprise. Money quote...

"It might actually be the most painful thing we can do, to show these murderers the untold pleasures that would have awaited them in Paradise, if only they had lived pious lives," said Praxitas, Duke of Those Willingly Led Astray. "I mean, it's tough enough being forced through a wire screen by the callused palms of Halcorym and then having your entrails wound onto a stick and fed to the toothless, foul-breathed swine of Gehenna. But to endure that while watching the righteous drink from a river of wine? That can't be fun."

From Katherine...

"Gday mates!

I hope this email finds you all well!

I am on Moreton Island right now, which is an island off the coast that is completely made of sand. It is so beautiful here! We got off the boat last night and fed the wild dolphins. Today we got up and got to feed the pelicans! They were so neat! Later we went sand tobaggoning (like sledding, but just down a sand dune this time!). It was pretty scary, but I didn't get too much sand in my mouth going down head first! We had a few hours to spend on the beach soaking up the sun and playing in the Pacific. What a great day!

Beforehand, I was living with a family in Toowoomba for 3 days. The house I stayed in was gorgeous, and I had a host mother, father, and sister who was 17 years old. It was an excellent way to get to learn about the Australian culture! My host mother runs a store where she goes to China and sells the goods from China here in Australia! How fascinating!

Tomorrow morning we are going snorkeling through the shipwrecks off of the island. The resort here is gorgeous, but it is a bit cold! I guess that is expected since it is winter time!

I have a little over a week left on my trip, and there are lots of exciting things coming up like crocodile hunting, snorkeling the Great Barrier Reef, and riding through the rainforests. It has been a great adventure so far! I hope you all get a chance to come here one day!

Take care!

I miss you all my mates!

Love Kat"

On this sand island would they eat toast made of sand and call them sandwiches?

If you're like me you have recently been angered by the Crapintosh comercials featuring the pretentious prick and the PC Dork. Behold their comeuppance.

I especially liked the reference to the "mash-up." Though if you want to see a good one, check out Willford Brimley's 'Beetis Remix.
