POOR DEAD CHARLTON HESTON

Charlton has always been one of my favorite actors. He always had a way of starring in the kind of movies that I love, such as Ben Hur, Touch of Evil, Ten Commandments, El Cid, Soylent Green, Planet of the Apes (both of them unfortunately), The Agony and the Ecstacy and Omega Man. Whether it was the epics of the 50's and 60's or the science fiction classics of the 70's he brought a great deal of gravity to all of his thought provoking roles. He spoke with the voice of a prince or a king. And who could forget all the things he screamed over the years...

"PEOPLE, IT'S MADE FROM PEOPLE!"

"BEHOLD HIS MIGHTY HANDS!"

"YOU BLEW IT UP!"

"WHERE ARE THEY?"

"GET YOUR STINKIN PAWS OFF OF ME YOU DAMN DIRTY APE!

To honor the great Charlton on his way home, check out this scene from Soylent Green where Sol goes home. This is one of the most beautiful and memorable scenes in movie history. It's beautiful enough as it is, but in the context of the film, picture an overpopulated world that has been polluted to excess where the air and soil are poison. In the real world, read the poster's note about Charlton and Edward G. Robinson. You will never be able to listen to Beethoven's 6th the same way again.
