MUSIC FOR A MELTDOWN

James called last night with the economic crisis on his mind. Of course, we set about the important work of trying to find the perfect song to describe the moment. Well, tonight, it finally hit me...

Drowning Man
by Duran Duran

He's sinking faster than a drowning man.
He grab a hold of anyone he can.
Gun in his pocket and a heart of ham,
Uncle Sam.

He's dying faster than a rabid dog.
Infect us all. Now he's losing blood.
Nose for trouble and a soul of rock,
Smokey's man.

Don't drag me down.
I don't wanna drown.
You're going down.
Yeah.

There's not much flesh, just skull and bone.
Cheeks sunk deep,
Eyes poppin wide.
Don't put out a hand to help him.
This drowning man will bite it right off,
Right off,
Right off,
Right off,
Right off!

Don't drag me down.
I don't wanna drown.
You're going down, going down.

He's selling faster than a magazine,
Infect us all with his TV screen.

He's selling faster than a magazine,
Infect us all with his TV screen.

He's selling faster than a magazine,
Infect us all with his TV screen.

He's selling faster than a magazine,
Infect us all with his TV screen.

You're going down.
Going down going.
Going down.

The songs not that great. But neither is the collapse of our economy. While listening to the Wedding Album you keep hoping the Drowning Man will end soon because it leads into Come Undone. That song is one of my all-time favorites, as it carries forth the metaphor. Be sure to check out the video. There is something so fitting about the $700 Billion make-up job that appears towards the end.

We're all going down and coming undone. What a great time to be in the foreclosure game.

"Can't ever keep from falling apart at the seems."
